Surat: Anti-corruption bureau sleuths arrested a talati cum mantri of Vatar gram panchayat in Valsad on Saturday for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000. The accused had demanded the money to provide no objection certificate to an applicant for a construction project.

police station. K R Saxena, a police inspector, ACB assisted the trap while it was laid under supervision of A K Chauhan, in-charge assistant director, ACB.
The complainant had approached Shah to seek NOC before starting a construction project for a company. Shah refused to issue it without payment of Rs 50,000. The complainant then approached the ACB and lodged a complaint. Shah called the complainant to come near Sai Leela Mall with the money and was caught red-handed while taking the money.
