SUV kills four in hit-and-run case in Vapi

SURAT: Four persons were killed in a hit-and-run incident in Vapi on Friday night. Driver of the SUV that killed the four men escaped from the location leaving the vehicle behind.
The car belongs to a municipal councillor of Vapi municipality. Police are yet to identify the person since the vehicle was borrowed by someone known to the owner of the car.

The deceased were identified as Vivek Vanraj Godani (24) of Chanod in Vapi, Ajay Shivpujan Mali (20) of Satanpur in Varanasi, Dilip Bhimsen Trivedi (19) and Vipin Rajesh Prasad Trivedi (21) of Ramnagari Pahadi of Riva in Madhya Pradesh. The four were on two scooters when the Mahindra XUV GJ-15-CB-9200 hit them.
Of the deceased Godani was supervisor in an industry while other victims were labour and living in rented accommodations at Vapi GIDC area.
The deceased were going towards their residence when the speeding SUV hit them and later crashed in a wall. The SUV was badly damaged and the driver could not move it, eyewitness informed police. The incident took place on Vapi Silvassa road at around 11.30pm on Friday.
Police have registered an offence against unidentified driver of the SUV and started the investigation. The SUV belong to BJP municipal councilor of ward 7 in Vapi municipality Aarti Patel.
