SURAT: A major fire broke out in a textile mill in Pandesara area of Surat in Gujarat on Saturday morning. No casualties have been reported.
Officials of the Surat Municipal Corporation's (SMC) fire and the emergency department said that the fire broke out at around 5.30am in the boiler section of Mayur Silk mills. About 20 fire fighting vehicles were rushed to the spot to douse the fire.
A fire official said, "It took more than four hours to firefighters to bring the fire under control. The cooling process at the mill started at around 9am. There are no casualties reported.”
"The exact reason of the fire is yet to be ascertained. However, the primary investigation revealed that the fire could have broken out due to short circuit in the boiler section,"the fire official added.
The Mayur Silk Mills is located on plot number 155 in Pandesara GIDC.
