Surat duo finish second in Hyrox doubles event in Bengaluru

Surat: Two city-based participants secured second place in the Hyrox doubles event held in Bengaluru, finishing runners-up in the 50–54 age category, officials said.The duo — Vishal Dalal and Dharmesh Dalal — completed the race in 1:32:56, just a minute behind the first-placed team. The event, launched in Germany in 2017, has gained popularity as a global fitness competition.In the 50–54 age category, 194 teams competed. The Surat duo finished second.Dharmesh Dalal (56), a textile businessman, said the event involves running 8km in segments, interspersed with functional workout stations such as Ski Erg, Sled Push, Sled Pull, Burpee Broad Jump, Rowing, Farmers Carry, sandbag lunges and wall balls. His partner, Vishal Dalal (49), is a share market trader.He said he had trained for three months for the competition. "The workouts test endurance, strength, agility and recovery," he said.The Bengaluru edition, held on April 11 and 12, saw participation from around 4,500 fitness enthusiasts from across the world across multiple categories. Around 250 participants from Surat took part in the event.
