Surat: A senior citizen who works as an accountant for a religious trust in Rander area was targeted by a biker gang who robbed him of Rs 1.41 lakh in broad daylight on Monday morning. Police have registered an offence of loot and are further investigating the matter.

near Adajan Patia, works as an accountant with

Hashmi Trust

near community Hall at Gorat Road in Rander area. On Monday morning he left his home with Rs 1.41 lakh cash, belonging to the trust, in a bag. He took an autorickshaw and reached near his office at around 11:50 am.
After getting off from the autorickshaw,

Naviwala

walked towards the trust’s office with the bag around his shoulder. When he was just about to enter the gate two unidentified persons with face masks reached the spot on a bike. The pillion rider jumped from the bike and snatched the bag from Naviwala.
As Naviwala tried to put up a fight, the robber snatched the bag and pushed him to the ground. Before Naviwala could call for help, the robbers escaped from the spot. The entire robbery was recorded in a CCTV camera.
Staff from Rander police station rushed to the spot after being informed and started searching for the accused. Police registered an offence against unidentified bikers under various sections of

IPC

including 392 (Robbery) and 114 (Abettor present when offence committed).
