SURAT: Manish Sindhiya is a dreaded name for the land mafia of the city. In real estate, there are very few who don't know about his gang. Active since 1996, this gang adopts a unique modus operandi of killing their victim by either barging into his house or very near his residence.
Police suspect this gang for the murder of Munna Bharwad just outside his home on August 3.

If past crimes of the gang are looked at, it's clear it always kills the enemy in its den.
In 1996, Sindhiya gang killed Kanu Babariya just outside his home near JJ Tots School in Saiyedpura. Sindhiya had a long-lasting fight with Kanu and his brother Paliya. Manish and Kanu Boricha stabbed Babariya to death.
In 1998-99, Sindhiya and Boricha along with Bharat Nepali and Kaliya Rajan of Chota Rajan gang killed Mahmood Pardewala in his office at Suraj Talkiz. The murder created a tense atmosphere in the city for a while.
In 2000, Sindhiya and Boricha murdered Hanskamal Grover, a well-known real estate and textile player in his apartment parking by shooting him at point-blank range. This was a high-profile case and city police was on the heels of the duo which fled the city.
Boricha committed suicide in 2003-04 when city police reached his Mograwadi hideout near Valsad and few months later Sindhiya was caught at Navsari.
In 2008, Sindhiya attacked Raju Salman in his Anand Mahal Road apartment to teach him a lesson. Salman was an associate of Munna in the land mafia.
