in Olpad taluka of Surat district, was caught accepting a

bribe

of Rs25,000 from the complainant to not destroy his illegal shrimp farm in their village. Anti-corruption bureau (ACB) sleuths laid a trap and caught Patel taking bribe on Friday.


Patel had threatened the illegal shrimp farm owner of destroying his farm if he didn’t pay up Rs25,000 as bribe to the village sarpanch. The owner approached ACB and a trap was laid. The accused was called to a tea stall in Olpad where he was caught accepting the bribe. The trap was laid by BK Vanar, police inspector, Surat rural ACB, and executed by his team, sources said.
