SURAT: Khatodara police booked 12 persons including
Sahara India’s chief
Subrata Roy Sahara for cheating on Tuesday.
Roy and others were booked based on complaint lodged by textile businessman Sanjay Murarka (50)who alleged that he was promised Rs 12.77 lakh return upon his investment in the company 10 years ago but he did not get the money.
Besides Roy, police booked Ashok Shrivastav, Pralaykumar Palit, Jiya Rana, Vinit Saxena, Sunita Agarwal, Vandna Bhargav, Ravishankar Dube, Ashokroy Choudhary, Govind Tiwari, Vinod Asthana, and A R Mishra.
They were booked under various sections of Indian Penal Code including breach of trust and cheating.
According to Murarka, he had invested Rs 9.10 lakh in 2009 in name of his wife and children. He claimed that he was promised double amount at maturity after five years. Meanwhile, after few years some officials of Sahara India asked him to reinvest the money for higher benefits and replaced the old bonds with new ones.
Murarka alleged that he was promised Rs 12.77 lakh in 2017-18 but he did not get a single penny. He visited the Sahara India’s office at Sosyo circle number of times but the officials there gave him excuses after which he approached police.
“We will scrutinize the records of the accused after which future course of action will be decided,” said a police officer at Khatodara police station.
