Gujarat: Porn videos surface on Navsari school’s WA group

SURAT: Two pornographic videos on a school WhatsApp group have raised hackles among students and parents alike in Navsari town. While the teacher who shared the videos on the group claimed that he had shared them by mistake, the school authorities said that the teacher had stopped coming to school for the past few days.
On Saturday morning, class VII students of Aster Global School (AGS) were shocked when they found two pornographic videos on the group.The WhatsApp group was created by the school for academic purpose. The videos were shared by Paresh Purohit, a science teacher, at 1.30am.
“My daughter woke up early to prepare for an exam and she complained about the videos to my wife at 4am. She was crying after watching the videos and she will not forget this episode throughout her life. She is just 14,’’ said the father of a girl student.
The parent said: “Many other students of the school must have been shocked to see this. I complained to the school about it and now it is up to them to take further action.”
Calling it to be a mistake, Purohit said, “I was trying to delete the videos but it got shared by mistake. It was not intentional and I am no longer working with the school.”
School principal Neha Tandel said, “Purohit’s job was already under scrutiny since he was irregular at school. He had been warned verbally to improve and meanwhile he stopped coming to school around 10 days ago.”
She said that the school had not removed Purohit from the WhatsApp group for class VII as the exams were nearing. “We though students might need his help,” she added.
District primary education officer Rohit Chaudhary will seek clarification from the school. “I talked to the school authorities and the school will be issued a notice on Monday,” said Chaudhary.
