Two couples from Surat became victim of theft on train while going to Rajasthan within 10 days. The victims alleged loss of jewellery worth rupees lakhs.

SURAT: Two couples from Surat became victim of theft on train while going to Rajasthan within 10 days. The victims alleged loss of jewellery worth rupees lakhs.
On June 29, Atal Sharda, 70 and his wife Pushpa, 63, boarded Suryanagari Express from Surat railway station. The couple was travelling in air conditioned coach and were going to participate in a function.

A youth was sitting in the same compartment of the couple. Sharda couple slept after midnight and woke up in the morning at around 6.30 am. While checking their luggage the couple realised that a bag of jewellery is missing.
When searched for the youth he was not found on train. Soon they informed police and lodged a compliant with Rajasthan police. Similarly, Akash Soni and his wife Sunaina were travelling from Surat to Jodhpur on July 9 in Suryanagri Exrpess. They boarded the train from Surat.
Before they slept in their air conditioned coach two youth came and sat in the same compartment. They offered food and water to Soni couple which they refused. In morning when the couple woke up they realised that a bag of valuables is missing. The couple approached police and lodged a complaint.
Details were transferred to Gujarat police for further investigation. Police believe that both the crimes were executed by same group of people. The gang members target only travellers in air conditioned coach.
