SURAT: Mystery continues to shroud the abduction of a three-month-old girl child Rupal from her house in Puna Gam area of the city on Thursday. Police investigation has not yet made any headway in the case. The child's mother is not in good health after her baby's abduction to help the police in investigation.
Mother of Rupal Bharti Hadiya was alone in her house at Sitaram Society.

Rupal was asleep in the cradle. The mother left to pick up her son Krish (7) from his school at around 2.40 pm after locking the house from outside. She returned at around 3 pm with Krish and to her surprise found Rupal missing.
The lock was intact on the main door. Bharti had opened it to enter the house. Except for the main door, there is no other entry point to the house. Bharti informed her husband Haresh, a diamond polisher. The couple searched for the child in nearby locality and later lodged a police complaint.
"There was no evidence to suggest it was a case of abduction, but we have registered a kidnapping complaint. The apartment has only one entry point i.e. the main door. Its lock was not broken by the culprit. We need to question Bharti to collect more details. However, she is hospitalized since the incident," police inspector, Puna police station, M N Parmar said.
The family alleges that the culprit may have used a duplicate key to open the lock on the main door. However, no evidence of duplicate key having been used has emerged during the forensic examination of the door lock, sources said.
