SURAT: A 45-year-old man had a miraculous escape after his motorcycle was hit by a truck, but he clung to it to save his life for at least 50 km on national highway 8 in Valsad district on Monday.
Navin Patel, a resident of Nagvas near Bhilad, was going to work on Monday morning when his motorcycle (GJ-15-QQ-2090) was hit by a truck (MR-55-H-5712) near Bhila check-post.
The bike was flung in the air and Patel fell on the ground and the truck moved over him. He was exactly in the middle of the truck and thus got saved. He caught on to an iron rod of the truck under its rear wheel and placed his legs on an angle.
The truck driver feared that he had killed the motorcyclist and accelerated further. Patel could move out from under the vehicle when it stopped at Charoti check-post after travelling about 50 km.
Patel was taken to a nearby clinic for check-up. He was declared safe and had only suffered minor injuries. The truck driver was allowed to go as the victim had not registered any complaint in the matter.
