Man held for dragging cop along at traffic stop
Surat: Varachha police arrested a 22-year-old man, Shivam Navadiya, who allegedly dragged a traffic policeman who was trying to get him to stop his vehicle. The alleged offence took place against police constable Hardik Bhatt (28), who was on duty at Gaushala Circle in Varachha on Sunday morning.
According to the complaint, Bhatt saw two people on a two-wheeler, without helmets, in the BRTS track, and flagged down the vehicle. Bhatt took a photo of the rider from the front. As he was taking a photo of the back of the vehicle, Navadiya tried to drive away. Bhatt tried to stop him by holding the two-wheeler from the back. Navadiya did not stop and dragged Bhatt along him for a few metres, causing injuries to his legs and hand.
Varachha police booked Navadiya for obstructing a govt servant from doing his duty and assault.
