Insurance agent beaten by fake cops
Surat: Adajan police of the city have booked at least five persons in connection with an alleged honeytrap incident in which the complainant was beaten up, abused and made to pay Rs 43,000 to the accused. According to the case, LIC agent Chinmay Joshi, a resident of Citylight area, was called by one Jayesh alias Sanjay Vaghela on the pretext of buying an insurance policy. He was called to an old housing flat owned by one Dilip Mama opposite Shriji Arcade in Adajan on Friday evening. After Joshi reached the flat, a girl reached there. After some time, four persons entered the house and identified themselves as personnel from Adajan police station. Two of them were Gopal Ulva and Raju Hadiyal. The four told Joshi that he was engaged in immoral activity in the flat and started beating him with sticks. They also abused him and threatened to kill him if he did not pay them Rs 3 lakh. They confined him in a room. After some time, they told him that he should pay them at least Rs 75,000. But finally, they settled for Rs 43,000 which Joshi gave them.
