I might be killed in an encounter: Chhotu Vasava

Surat: Tribal strongman and Jhagadia MLA Chhotu Vasava has expressed fears that he could be eliminated in an encounter conspired by some politicians and top police officers.

He has alleged that some senior policemen have been deliberately posted in his area to scare his party members so that they don’t venture out for campaigning.

“ I fear for my and my party workers’ lives. I am scared because these people will get me killed in an encounter. It is this fear that is not letting me go out for election campaigning,” Vasava told media persons at his house on Thursday.

Vasava alleged that a conspiracy was hatched to prop his namesake as a candidate to misguide local tribal voters.

Vasava, who owes allegiance to the Sharad Yadav faction of Janata Dal (U), is contesting as a candidate of Bharatiya Tribal Party (BTP) floated by his son Mahesh. having the symobl of auto rickshaw. Vasava is seeking sixth term from Jhagadiya. In 2012 polls, Vasava had won by a margin of nearly 7,500 votes.

This time, Chhotu is directly pitted against BJP’s Ravji Vasava, his one-time close confidante.
