SURAT: Police arrested a home-guard jawan and an auto-rickshaw driver on Saturday for allegedly thrashing and robbing a couple in Vapi. Police registered a complaint of the jawan against the youth for allegedly attacking him.
Police arrested Ashish Prajapati, a home guard jawan and Krunal Patel, an auto-rickshaw driver, for allegedly robbing a couple on Friday night on Ramzan Vadi road in Vapi.
The accused stopped the couple Suresh Yadav and his girlfriend and threatened them of police action. The accused allegedly demanded Rs 1,000 and robbed mobile phone of Yadav. The accused asked the couple to come with them in auto-rickshaw of Patel to police station.
Yadav refused to go with the accused and pay the money after which he was attacked. Yadav fought with the accused after which they fled from the location. Yadav lodged complaint on next day. He told police that he went to Daman with his friend and while returning this incident took place.
Meanwhile, Prajapati also registered a complaint of attack by Yadav. Prajapati told police that he received information that Yadav is harassing a woman. On reaching the spot Prajapati was attacked by Yadav when questioned. Registering the complaint police started investigation.
