Hall manager booked for worker’s death

Surat: Police have booked the manager of a banquet hall for culpable homicide not amounting to murder in the death of a labourer at a commercial complex in Althan on Thursday. The accused had asked three workers, including the deceased, to clean a septic tank.
Police booked Sree Ram following a complaint by Devu Solanki, wife of Raghu Solanki, who died while cleaning the septic tank. The accused is manager of Crescent Banquet Hall in Excellus Business at Althan.
The complainant alleged that the accused asked her husband and two other labourers to enter the septic tank and clean it despite knowing that it could prove dangerous to their lives.
Investigation has been handed over to the assistant commissioner of police (SC ST Cell).
Two other workers — Ramesh Kamaliya and Bakul Bariya — suffered asphyxiation. While Kamaliya’s condition is critical, Bariya is stable.
