Gujarat pollution: 13 units get closure notices

ANKLESHWAR: Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) has issued closure notices to 13 industries of Ankleshwar and Panoli industrial estates on Thursday. The notices were issued following a visit of a GPCB team to various units and finding several irregularities.
Four units were found discharging effluent into an open trench and another nine units were manufacturing products for which the GPCB has not given consent.
The units issued closure notices are Anita Synthetics, Asim Food Colors, Om Pharma Chem, A One Appliances, Madhu Chem Industries, Milan Chemicals, Sahjanand Chemicals, V K Chemicals, Ronson Pigment, Vihita Biochem and Ashok Pharma of Ankleshwar along with Unity Rubber Industries and Om Plastics Industries of Panoli GIDC.
The Ankleshwar region continues to be high on the list of critically polluted areas released by Union environment ministry in November.
