SURAT: The wife of a Gujarat cadre IPS officer reportedly died by suicide by hanging at their residence in Ahmedabad. The incident involved RT Susara, a 2011 batch IPS officer currently serving as the superintendent of police, Marine Task Force, in Hazira, Surat.
The officer's 47-year-old wife, Shaluben, was found hanging from the ceiling fan in a room at their Thaltej residence on Friday morning.
Assistant commissioner of police S M Patel said that Shaluben had hanged herself on Thursday night after returning from Surat. No suicide note was found at the scene, leading the police to register the case as an accidental death.
Shaluben's body was sent for post-mortem at Sola Civil Hospital.
The couple had been in Surat for a few days to attend a wedding. Susara, who was on leave, arrived in Ahmedabad on Thursday afternoon, while Shaluben returned later in the night when her husband was already asleep. The following morning, Susara discovered his wife's body hanging in a different room on the ground floor and promptly contacted the local police.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Shaluben took her own life for reasons yet unknown, as stated by the ACP.
