Governor travels by ST bus, interacts with passengers

Surat: Gujarat governor Acharya Devvrat travelled in a Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) bus from Adajan bus stand in Surat to Jinod village in Olpad taluka on Saturday, drawing public attention by choosing to travel like a common citizen.He purchased his own ticket and made the payment digitally, underlining support for cashless transactions. His decision to undertake the journey in peak summer, with temperatures crossing 40°C, was seen as a gesture aimed at connecting with people and reinforcing confidence in public systems.During the journey, Devvrat interacted with fellow passengers, inquiring about their well-being and listening to their concerns, while experiencing the public transport system firsthand. Passengers expressed surprise at finding the state's first citizen travelling alongside them.This is not the first such instance, as the governor has previously travelled by ST buses on multiple occasions. Devvrat regularly visits one taluka every week under the Gram Kalyan programme. During these visits, he participates in tree plantation drives under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign, joins village cleanliness activities and shares meals with families across communities.
