SURAT: A 19-year-old girl has alleged of being raped by her college friend in a café. Over past seven months, he kept assaulting her sexually multiple times by threatening to send her pictures to her family members and other college friends. Fed up of harassment, the survivor finally approached the
Umra
police with a
complaint
of rape and cops are investigating the matter.
According to the police, the girl lives in Vesu area and is studying in
BCom
third year in a local college. Her father works as a supervisor in a sari-making unit in Pandesara. In November 2021, she met Badshah
Fateh, a resident of
Khatkivad
in
Lalgate
area, who was also part of a girl’s group of college friends. During group meetings they became friends.
Fateh offered to take her on a coffee date and both went to a coffee shop in Umra area. In a close cabin there, Fateh allegedly raped her and threatened her not to reveal it to anyone. He also said if she tells anyone he will send their pictures to her family members and friends.
After the incident, Fateh started to blackmail the girl and raped her several times more by taking her to different coffee shops. When she started to avoid him, he called her to a park and sexually abused her there and forced her to continue their relationship.
Being fed up with the blackmailing and repeated rapes, the girl gathered courage and informed her family about ti. On Wednesday, she approached the Umra
police
and filed a complaint against Fateh.
Police have registered an offence of rape (IPC 376) in the case and started investigation.
