Five people assault woman PSI inside police chowky

Surat: Over a matter of eve teasing, both parties in the complaint allegedly made a ruckus in Lalgate police station on Friday when they were summoned to register their statements.
In the melee, an accused among the mob also roughed up a woman police sub inspector (PSI) who tried to intervene and calm things down.
Police staff present in the chowky rushed to help the PSI and also informed higher officials about the incident.Police arrested all the accused and initiated legal proceedings against them.
According to the case details, a girl had submitted an application on Thursday against a youth who allegedly teased her whenever she left her house. Police registered a case and the woman PSI deputed at the Rani Talav police chowky who is also the investigator of the application called both the parties to register their statements on Thursday at around 1pm.
However, when both parties reached the police chowky, they started abusing each other. When the PSI on duty told them to stay calm and cooperate in the police procedure. But the accused got even more violent and started abusing the cop and one of the accused even grabbed the collar of her uniform.
The woman PSI filed a complaint for trying to deter a public servant from duty.
Lalgate police registered an offence under different section of IPC including 332 (causing hurt to deter a public servant from his duty) and 147 (rioting) against five accused namely, Salman Ansari, Samir alias Suhan alias Chhotu Ansari, Mehroon Nisha Ansari (all are resident of Turava Mahollo in Saiyedpura), Ruksana Ansari, resident of Bhandariwad and Farin Pathan, resident of Teen Batti in Rander.
