SURAT: Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has organized a film festival along with Film Society of Surat as part of Swarnim Gujarat and Republic Day celebrations. It will be held between January 17 and 23. Thirty-seven documentaries and five feature films will be screened as part of the 'Raj Se Swaraj' festival.
Documentaries on India's independence and present-day issues will be screened daily for schoolchildren at Gandhi Smruti Bhavan at 10 am and 3 pm.
Two shows have also been organized at the Science Centre auditorium every day at 7 pm and 8.30 pm.
On January 21 and 22, select movie halls in the city will screen Ketan Mehta's 'Sardar' and
Jabbar Patel's 'Babasaheb Ambedkar'. Shyam Benegal's films 'Making of Mahatma', 'Subhashchandra Bose - The forgotten hero' and 'Junoon' will be screened will also be screened.
SMC has asked schools to register early for special screenings.
