Surat: A series of talent events are being organised as part of ‘Eucrasia 2022’ at the Government Medical College (GMC) this year. The four-day fest started on Wednesday.
On the first day, mental health awareness run, Shark Tank, fashion show and drama events were held. On the second day, a blood donation drive, mock parliament and musical evening took place.
On Friday, activities like wall painting and dance night will be held. On the last day, an interactive session, open mic and cooking event have been planned.
In the mock parliament ‘Drill the Bill’, a bill for data privacy across social media platforms and the storage of data in secure digital vaults was presented. Medical students Pratiksha Khatavakar, Ashtha Barnwaal, Sheetal Yadav and Jaydip Patel conducted the event.
The event was judged by Dr. Sandeep Kansal, associate professor of surgery; Dr. Alpna Mathur, associate professor of physiology; and Dr. B Divakar, assistant professor of pharmacology.
“The event was aimed at nurturing the orator, debater and leader among the budding doctors of the college. In the end, the opposition succeeded in blocking the bill from getting passed,” said a senior faculty member at GMC.
“The event was both interesting and informative. Such events generate awareness, critical thinking and ethical attitudes,” said a participating student.
The blood donation drive, as a means of giving the gift of life to the needy, was organised by MBBS students Jay Thakkar, Nevil Taraviya, Arpit Labana,
Saurabh Pandey, Kiran Chaudhary, Harsh Panchal, Vraj Chaudhary and Dhruvin Garasiya. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Mukesh Jaggiwala. A consultant psychiatrist and an active member of the Indian Red Cross Society, Dr Jaggiwala is a regular blood donor.
