SURAT: Members of the Sports Council of Dadra and Nagar Haveli (DNH) have demanded legal action against organizers of Sunburn festival - a dance music festival - for allegedly breaching the conditions laid down for using Silvassa Stadium.
International and national artists offered live entertainment to people during the Sunburn festival, which was held at the Silvassa Stadium for two days from October 3.
The festival was followed by a pool party and multiple after parties.
Sports Council member Kaushil Shah wrote to the secretary of Sports Council of Dadra and Nagar Haveli stating that the private organization had breached the conditions laid down before it while allotting the stadium for the party.
Shah alleged that smoking, consumption of liquor and gutkha had taken place at the stadium and that the organizers did not bother to prevent people from following the no-smoking signboards. During the festival, open stalls were erected for sale of liquor and cigarettes. Also, the ground and the main pitch for cricket were damaged by the organizers, he alleged.
Shah said, "It is a serious issue. The Sports Council had not permitted selling of cigarettes and liquor at the stadium, but the organizers breached the conditions of the agreement. Thus, they are liable to face legal action."
Sunburn organizers were not available for comments.
