GANDHINAGAR: Air Marshal
Daljit Singh has taken over as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, South Western Air Command (SWAC), Gandhinagar from Friday. A recipient of Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and Vayu Sena Medal, Singh was director general air (operations) at air headquarters prior to assuming the post of AOC-in-C. He replaced Air Marshal Anjan Kumar Gogoi.
Singh was commissioned in the fighter stream of the
Indian Air Force in June 1976.
An alumnus of the National Defence Academy, he has flown over 3500 hours on various aircraft which include Gnats, Ajeets, MiG-21s, Su-30 MKI and Mirage-2000. He is a qualified flying instructor, a graduate of Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, has held a variety of operational and staff appointments and also done a course on electronic warfare abroad.
