Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Limited registers police complaint against JD(U) MLA's son

A lone JD(U) MLA from Jhagadia in Bharuch district, Chhotu Vasava is facing legal action after the Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Limited (DGVCL) registered a police complaint for allegedly instigating the villagers of Dharoli in Jhagadia taluka when 19 consumers were caught red-handed for stealing power by the vigilance team on Thursday.

SURAT : A lone JD(U) MLA from Jhagadia in Bharuch district, Chhotu Vasava is facing legal action after the Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Limited (DGVCL) registered a police complaint for allegedly instigating the villagers of Dharoli in Jhagadia taluka when 19 consumers were caught red-handed for stealing power by the vigilance team on Thursday.
In an official communique issued on Thursday, DGVCL stated that the team of vigilance department and other staff members had gone on a routine checking drive at Dharoli village in Jhagadia taluka and caught 19 consumers for stealing power during the drive.

However, Dilip Vasava interfered in the inspection drive of the DGVCL and forced the officials to flea the spot by gathering more than 500 villagers. Vasava also snatched away the electricity meter seized by the DGVCL officials from one of the consumers involved in the power theft.
Following the incident, Safety Supreintendent of the Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL), RJ Savani rushed to the spot and immediately instructed the Valia police inspector to register against Dilip Chhotu Vasava and other mobsters for shielding the power thieves and interfering in the operation of the DGVCL officials.
Sources said that during the ongoing operation in the Jambusar, Valia and Jhagadia talukas in the last two days, the DGVCL has detected power thefts in over 401 connections out of the total 4000 connections checked worth Rs 59.21 lakh.
The Valia police station has registered complaint against Dilip Vasava and that investigations are on.
