Cops suspended for negligence

SURAT: Police inspector D R Vadher and assistant sub inspector Bharat Vesta of Sachin police station have been suspended by city police commissioner Rakesh Asthana for negligence in duty. The two officials failed to submit charge-sheet in a loot and murder case of September 2012 within the stipulated time of 90 days.
Following the delay in filing of the charge-sheet the two accused in the case Upendra Ram and Shivji Ram sought a default bail and were released by a local court on Monday.
The two accused along with three others had attacked Piyush Naik and Pravin Naik near Kharvasa village on September 25, 2012. The victims were looted by the accused and Pravin was strangulated to death.
The police had Upendra and Shivji. As per the law the charge-sheet in the matter was supposed to be submitted within 90 days of arrest of the accused. However, the police submitted it a day late on Monday.
