Copper wire thief held, police on look out for gang

SURAT: One of the four members of a gang involved in stealing copper wires was arrested from Dindoli area of Surat on Sunday.
According to local crime branch officials, seven transformers have been stolen recently from farms on the outskirts of the city. Complaints were lodged in Sachin and Mota Varachha police stations.
Officials got a tip-off about the involvement of Ajay Tiwari alias Moti. "Apart from copper wire theft, Tiwari also confessed to having stolen two bikes. These vehicles were used by his gang members to go to the farms, from where they stole the transformers," said LCB sub-inspector Vikramsinh Rathod. Tiwari has also revealed names of three of his accomplices.
