Civic body removes NPSS administrator
Surat: Hitesh Makhija, administrator of Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC)-run Nagar Prathmik Shikshan Samiti (NPSS), was removed from his post on the grounds of unsatisfactory work during his probationary period by the standing committee here on Friday.
Rajesh Desai, chairman, standing committee, said Makhija was on extended period of probation and there were lot of corruption complaints against him.

“A proposal was placed before us for his removal and we decided to accept it,” he added.
Opposition Congress and others have welcomed the decision taken by the ruling BJP.
SMC-run NPSS has more than 1.4 lakh primary students studying in its more than 225 schools.
Meanwhile, the SMC has decided to build a Chhatrapati Shivaji Smark at Karnimata Chowk at a cost of Rs 45 lakh. During the construction of the flyover at Sahara Darwaja, the statue had to be removed from there.
