SURAT: Continuing his good run with the bat, city lad Chirag Gandhi playing for Gujarat scored an aggressive 136 against Jharkhand in the under-22 CK Naidu Trophy match in Ranchi on November 24.
Batting first in the four-day game, Gujarat scored 310 runs on the first day. Gandhi's hundred had 23 boundaries and a six. Playing in number four position, he got out in the last over before the stumps were drawn.
Gujarat made 440 in the first innings and bowled out host Jharkhand for 284 on the third day, gaining a precious first innings lead of 156 runs. At the end of the third day's play, Gujarat had scored 53 runs without losing any wicket.
This is Gandhi's first ton of the season. He had scored heavily in the past two years.
