'Catch the Rain' campaign kicks off in Surat

'Catch the Rain' campaign, focused on water conservation through public participation, was launched in Surat on Sunday.

Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel, Madhya Pradesh CM Dr Mohan Yadav, Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal Sharma, and Bihar’s deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary attended the event. They discussed ways to expand water conservation efforts in their states under the “Karmabhoomi to Janmabhoomi” initiative.

Traders, industrialists, and community leaders from Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Bihar, who live in Surat, were encouraged to participate in water conservation activities in their home states. The event, held at Surat’s Indoor Stadium, focused on collective efforts like bore recharge, well recharge, and rainwater harvesting.

Union minister of Jal Shakti, CR Patil, spoke about the “Catch the Rain” project, which began in 2021. He highlighted its impact on water conservation and stressed the importance of public involvement. More than 80,000 rainwater harvesting projects have been initiated across Gujarat, with a goal of 2,00,000 structures.
