Blaze erupts in basement of textile market in Godadara

Surat: Fire broke out at Nidhi Textile Market in Godadara on Sunday morning, prompting a large-scale firefighting operation after thick smoke engulfed the basement.The fire department received a call around 7am, following which divisional fire officer Krishna Mod and other fire officials rushed to the spot. As the fire had erupted in the basement and thick smoke engulfed the area, around 20 fire tenders were deployed amid fears that the flames could spread to other parts of the market.However, officials said the fire was largely confined to the basement and was brought under control within three hours. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, and an investigation is underway.
