Bhavnagar lads set up final in inter-dist meet

SURAT: Top seed Jignesh Jaiswal of Bhavnagar will be up against second seed and citymate Hardik Bhatt in the men's final of Inter-District Table Tennis Championship.
In the semis, played at Surat on Monday, Jignesh brushed aside another citymate and fifth seed Ravi Joshi 11-4, 11-7, 11-6, 12- 10 while Hardik also beat citymate and third seed Jagdish Makwana 11-8, 11-8, 11-8, 9-11, 11-13, 11-9 in an exciting match.In the youth girls final, it will be top seed Frenaz Chipia of Surat versus seventh seed Nirja Trivedi of Bhavnagar.
In the semis, Frenaz beat her teammate Simin Atodaria 11-5, 11-5, 11-6, 11-5 while Nirja toppled her younger sister and third seed Dwijal Trivedi 11-5, 11-5, 11-7, 11-9. Surat's Harsh Sachnandani, the top seed, beat fifth seed Dev Kothari of Bhavnagar 11-4, 11-8, 11-9, 11-8 to set up the final date with his practice partner and second seed Bhavin Desai. Bhavin beat third seed Harsh Thakre of Baroda in seven exciting games 8-11, 11-6, 11-4, 8-11, 8-11, 12-10, 11-5.
Impressive Kausha
In the cadet girls final, fourth seed Kausha Bhairepure of Ahmedabad will face second seed Sanskruti Malpani of Surat. In the semis, Kausha toppled top seed Neens Patel of Valsad 11-9, 11-2, 11-8, 8-11, 11-7 while Sanskruti defeated third seed Namana Jaiswal 11-7, 11-8, 11-9, 11-3.
In the sub-junior girls, fourth seed Abhika Desai of Surat battled it out to topple her citymate and top seed Aarushi Nandwani 11-9, 9-11, 11-5, 11-6, 10-12, 6-11, 11-6. Abhika will now face seventh seed Fagun Bhatt of Bhavnagar who upstaged citymate and sixth seed Dhara Parmar 9-11, 11-4, 11-4, 11-9, 14-16, 11-9.
In the sub-junior boys, top seed Manush Shah of Baroda will be up against second seed Soham Pandya of Bhavnagar. Manush defeated fourth seed Kaushal Bhatt of Bhavnagar 11-9, 11-4, 11-7, 11-9 while Soham overcame third seed Ishaan Hingorani of Kutch 11-7, 11-8, 7-11, 12-10, 11-6 in the semis.
