SURAT: Employees of Surat Mahila Nagrik Sahakari Bank Ltd demonstrated at Surat district collector's office on Saturday for their long pending demands. The protesters also submitted a memorandum to the collector.
According to president of Bank Kamdar Sangh Navin Patel, bank employees have been working with salary cuts and they can't afford to sustain their respective families.
The management has also decided to lay off 80 employees.
"We urge you to intervene. It's also necessary to find out the conduct by management carried out over the period of time," they told the collector. Patel alleged that union and management have tried to resolve the problem amicably, but all efforts went in vain.
Their demands include re-audit of banks under the co-operative rules and appointment of workman director' so that monitoring can be more vigilant.
