Asaram case: Eighth accused arrested for attacks on witnesses

The eighth accused in attacks on witnesses and their supporters in the cases pertaining to rape accused Asaram and his son Narayan Sai was arrested on Wednesday.

SURAT: The eighth accused in attacks on witnesses and their supporters in the cases pertaining to rape accused Asaram and his son Narayan Sai was arrested on Wednesday. Harish alias Prakash Sen, 22, was nabbed from Indore in Madhya Pradesh.
Police arrested him for his alleged involvement in planning the attacks on the witnesses. Sen was not involved in the attacks directly.

He was monitoring the attacks from Indore and Ghaziabad ashram near Delhi. Sen is a full time follower of Asaram and resides in Ghaziabad Ashram.
Sources said that he was in touch with the attackers on phone and closely monitored the movement of attackers. The police expect to arrest a few others also involved in planning the attacks.
Police have so far arrested seven accused in the case. Kishore Bodke of Pune in Maharashtra, Chandrashekhar alias Kiran Talloi of Bijapur in Karnataka and Gopal alias Suresh Patidar of Khandwa in Madhya Pradesh were arrested on March 16 for attacking three victims. Dinesh Puorhit and his brother Laxman were arrested on March 18.
Rakesh Patel of Saroli village near Surat was arrested on March 21 for allegedly providing accommodation to a gang member Manoj, who is yet to be arrested. Pankaj alias Arjun Kishan Virchandani of Asaram ashram in Pali village near Jodhpur was arrested on March 24. Virchandani was also involved in planning the attacks.
