SURAT: Five people were booked at Mahidharpura police station on Sunday for cheating an Antwerp-based DTC

, for breach of trust, cheating and forgery. The complaint was filed by Anish Tiwari, who had been authorized by the company.

According to the complaint, Rakesh Shah had approached the victim company to sell its diamonds to Komal Exim Pvt Ltd located at Mahidharpura diamond market. The company shipped the diamonds to the accused’s company after the accused assured of cash payment. The accused took custody of the diamonds, but did not make payment for them. Later they submitted forged bank papers to the company.

Police investigation found that Komal Exim Pvt Ltd was a fake company. “It seems that the accused had carried out the fraud in a planned manner. They have disappeared after making the purchase,” a police officer said.
