SURAT:
A group of family
, friends and community members of a 14-year-old schoolgirl gheraoed Varachha police station on Saturday to demand that she be rescued from her abductors immediately.
The 70-odd people ended their demonstration after approximately 90 minutes when police officials assured them of strict action in the matter.
The family members submitted a memorandum at the office of district collector complaining of inaction by police, which also mentioned the role of accused Kamlesh Parmar, 25, and others in the abduction of the girl. The
girl
had left home on January 8 at 7am to go to school, but she neither reached school nor returned home.
The family had lodged a complaint of abduction at Varachha police station the same day against Kamlesh, who earlier lived in neighbouring house.
Police have booked Kamlesh Parmar for allegedly abducting the girl. Police found her documents in the house of a Parmar’s relative at Vashingpura village of
Gir Somnath district
in
Saurashtra
.
“My daughter’s Aadhaar Card, birth certificate and school leaving certificate were found in the house of Parmar’s elder sister, but police didn’t take any action against her. Police have specific information about people who had helped Parmar financially but they are not being nabbed,” father of the girl alleged.
“We are taking action to trace the girl and nab the accused. A team led by a police sub-inspector is in Saurashtra,” said C K Patel, assistant sub-inspector, A division.
