NEW DELHI: At least seven individuals sustained burn injuries after a gas cylinder caught fire in a building in Surat's Katargam locality early Wednesday morning.
The incident occurred around 6am on the second floor of the Krishna Complex building.
The victims, all men aged between 18 and 27, were in a small room when the fire broke out. They were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
Upon receiving the emergency call at 6.18am, six fire tenders from three different stations were dispatched to the scene. The fire was successfully brought under control within an hour, a fire department official said.
Police have seized three gas cylinders from the site as part of their investigation. Further details on the cause of the fire are awaited.
