4 booked for cheating in 6cr land deal case
Surat: The Surat crime branch has booked four persons for cheating, breach of trust and conspiracy in a case relating to a land deal in Pal. The FIR was filed by advocate Surendra Jariwala who played a mediation role for this land deal worth Rs 5.75 crore. The four named in the FIR are Vimal Patel, his father-in-law Jagjivan Patel, brother-in-law Dipak Patel and brother-in-law Sanjay Patel. According to the case details, in 2016, Parle Point resident Bhavesh Patel bought 5,967 square metre land in TP Scheme 14 (Pal) from Vimal Patel. Bhavesh is Jariwala’s friend. This land originally belonged to Gandabhai Patel who had given it to Jagjivan Patel through a general power of attorney in 1982. In 2000, Jagjivan gave it to his son-in-law Vimal through sale deed. But in 2016, Vimal claimed the land was clear so Bhavesh paid him Rs 5.75 crore in 12 instalments between May 2016 and January 2017. After the payment was made, Bhavesh’s name was entered in land records of the government on February 8, 2017. After Bhavesh’s name was entered in land records, Jagjivan raised a revenue dispute over this land. Jagjivan’s sons Sanjay and Dipak also filed civil cases. Jariwala came to know that Vimal had given Sanjay the power of attorney for the same land in 2005. It was also found that the legal heirs of the original owner raised claims over the land in the court. When those claims were rejected by the court, Vimal gave this land as a gift to Jagjivan in August 2021. As many sales and agreements were found for this land, the complainant came to know that Vimal, Jagjivan, Sanjay and Dipak were hand in glove and hatched a conspiracy to sell this land which was already in dispute.
