10 jailed under PASA after DGP’s directive
Surat: After Gujarat DGP Vikas Sahay's order to take strict action against known criminals in 100 hours, Surat police commissioner Anupam Singh Gahlaut invoked the Prevention of Anti-Social Activities Act (PASA) against 10 notorious criminals, including a woman. These include alleged extortionists, bootleggers and gamblers, among others. They were sent to jails in Ahmedabad, Bhuj and Mehsana. Those sent to jails under PASA are Ramesh Jangid, Ajay Patel, Narendra Patel, Chetan Patel, Gabhru Bharwad, Rasesh Gujarathi, Jignasha Sonpal, Mohammad Shakir Shaikh and Sabir Shaikh. The police commissioner has thus far invoked PASA against 205 criminals in 2025.
