Three dead in Dal Lake blaze in Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Tragedy struck as three bodies were recovered from the remains of houseboats that were engulfed in a massive fire on Dal Lake on Saturday.



The bodies were recovered in the early hours near ghat number nine, as officials worked to ascertain the identity of the deceased.




Among the victims, a man and a woman were identified, while the gender of the third victim remains undetermined at this point.

The devastating fire, which erupted in the heart of the tourist hub on Dal Lake, resulted in the destruction of property worth crores of rupees.

The flames consumed five houseboats and as many attached huts. The precise cause of the fire is yet to be determined, said.
