Nahida Manzoor, 26, has become the first

Kashmiri woman

to successfully summit the

world’s highest mountain

, Everest, in her

maiden attempt

, according to

Transcend Adventures Pvt Ltd

, the Hyderabad-based

mountaineering and trekking

services company that Nahida had hired.


“The fourth summit of the day (Tuesday) is Nahida Manzoor along with her Sherpa guide Nima Kancha. Nahida hails from Srinagar. She has been passionate about the snow peaks and took to the mountains at a very young age,” Transcend Adventures posted on its Facebook page.

Nahida, the daughter of mutton seller Manzoor Ahmad Pampori of Zeewan, in Srinagar’s Panthak chowk, had left Everest base camp for the summit on Saturday. She summited on Tuesday, said Farkhanda Manzoor, Nahida’s elder sister.

Nahida, pursuing a BA at Vishwa Bharti Women’s College at Rainawari here, is the second of Manzoor Pampori’s three daughters.
