SRINAGAR: The upper regions of Kashmir experienced the season's first snowfall on Monday, whilst the lower areas received rainfall, concluding a 30-day dry period in the valley, according to official sources.
Light snow was recorded at Affarwat in Gulmarg region of Baramulla district and Sadhna Top in Kupwara district, as confirmed by authorities.
Officials also noted snowfall in uninhabited mountainous regions across Kashmir. Srinagar and other low-lying areas of the valley experienced rainfall in the late afternoon.
The combination of snow and rain caused a substantial drop in daytime temperatures, indicating winter's onset in Kashmir.
