Srinagar: Top CRPF officers and J&K lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha on Monday offered tributes to 40 CRPF jawans martyred in the 2019 terror attack in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Three years ago on February 14, a CRPF convoy was on its way from Jammu to Srinagar when a Jaish-e-Mohammad suicide bomber, Adil Ahmad Dar, rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into one of the CRPF buses at Lethpora, killing 40 jawans.
On Monday, CRPF additional director general DS Chaudhary led the officers and jawans in paying homage to their fallen comrades at the martyr’s memorial raised near the site of the terror strike. He said such attacks would, in no way, demoralise the troops in fighting terrorism.
ADG Chaudhary saluted the slain personnel and said the aim of the force is to maintain peace in Kashmir Valley and not let the martyrs’ sacrifice be in vain.
A CRPF jawan present at the ceremony said: “We miss them because they were our colleagues. This (tribute) is a message that we have not forgotten them, that we remember those who sacrificed their lives for all of us.”
Meanwhile,

Lt Guv Manoj Sinha

paid tributes to the martyred personnel and said the J&K administration is determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the Union Territory. “The nation will forever be grateful to our brave soldiers of @crpfindia and their families,” he tweeted.
