SHIMLA: The team of the Vigilance Bureau on Thursday caught the Himachal Pradesh
Waqf Board estate officer accepting a bribe of Rs one lakh from the office complex of the deputy commissioner, Shimla. Although the Waqf Board office is at Chakkar in Shimla, the accused had come to the deputy commissioner’s office to collect the bribe money from the complainant.
According to the Vigilance Bureau officials, a case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018, against Sadiq Mohammad (48), presently posted as Estate Officer, HP Waqf Board.
Mohammad had demanded Rs one lakh from the complainant in lieu of renewal of lease agreement/rent agreement of the Waqf Board property. Sources said when he demanded a bribe of Rs one lakh for the renewal of rent agreement, the victims complained to the vigilance officials. tnn
