Viral video shows dead cows lying in animal shelter

DHARAMSHALA: The video of a

cow shelter

in Nurpur area of

Kangra district

in

Himachal Pradesh

has gone viral on social media. The video show several dead cows lying on the ground whereas several others appeared to be sick and weak.

District Commissioner, Sandeep Kumar told that he was verifying the fact and would take action against this. “I was caught up with the court matters so the action was delayed. Appropriate action would be taken tomorrow,” he said.

Sabhya Lotiya

, a social activist of the area told that the people who leave their cattle after using them for whole life should be punished. It is not the fault of the administration or government alone but owners should also be held responsible for their condition.

"I have been to this cow shelter many times, people leave their cattle in a condition where they can’t even move from their place. Pictures were true but action should be taken against the owners of these animals also," he added.

Ricky Joshi, the person who shot the video and pictures, told that the picture was heart moving. Many cows can’t move from their place, some have lost their vision as birds have eaten up their eyes. “Authorities should must act and do something,” he said.

The shelter is said to have a total of 15 cows. The video shows dead bodies of atleast five cows lying on the ground.
