Swollen Swan inundates farmland in Una

Kullu: Water from swollen Swan rivulet entered houses in Una and submerged farms on Tuesday. According to officials, Swan’s water level increased due to heavy rainfall since Monday evening. A tractor driver was also stranded in Gagret after a sudden rise in the rivulet’s water level. He was rescued in an operation launched by the local administration, which has also stopped the traffic movement on the Ghalu Wal bridge, which connects Una with Hoshiarpur district of Punjab. An official said that the traffic has been diverted through Haroli-Rampur bridge. As per reports, potato crop got damaged in fields which were on the bank of Swan. The official said that a team has been sent to visit the affected places to take assessment of the losses.The Swan river had caused substantial damage on its banks in July as well.

Traffic on hway bridge stopped due to floodwater damage

A bridge connecting Dondaicha in Dhule to Sarangkheda in Nandurbar has been damaged due to heavy rainfall and discharge from a dam. Movement of vehicles has been stopped as a precautionary measure. The bridge is over 50 years old and officials are assessing its condition. Vehicles traveling from Dondaicha to Saranghkheda will now have to take a longer route. In Jalgaon, the situation has improved as the inflow into the dam has reduced. However, 70 hectares of farmlands have been damaged due to the river embankment breach.

Narmada river water level still above danger mark in Gujarat; passengers stranded as Mumbai-Ahmedabad train traffic affected

Girls body carried across swollen stream

Villagers in Thumidiput, India risked their lives to carry the body of a 10-year-old girl across a swollen stream for burial due to lack of proper road connectivity.
