Sukhu reaches out to remote villages
Shimla: In a step to address public grievances at their doorsteps in remote areas, chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has announced an initiative which starts with his visit to the remote Dodra-Kwar area in Shimla district on October 26.
The chief minister has planned to visit far-flung villages of the state to meet the village folks and spend adequate time with them besides solving their grievances. It is for the first time in the state that such an initiative has being undertaken, said a government spokesperson.
Sukhu has issued directions to all the ministers to visit the hamlets of their areas and besides solving their grievances on the spot, share the development schemes and programmes with them and make them understand better as to how to derive the benefits of various government schemes. The ministers will also give feedback to the government regarding the performance of the officers and officials posted in those regions.
“Under the ‘vyavastha parivartan’ initiative and to make the state self-reliant, the state government has decided to head towards the villages and remote rural belts,” said the chief minister. After assuming office, Sukhu held a public ‘darbar’ for two days in villages of Kaza in Lahaul-Spiti district during which he introduced several new development projects based on the feedback given by the villagers and listened to their grievances while spending time with them. The chief minister issued directions to solve various issues pertaining to drinking water, roads, and electricity to hamlets to give the much-needed relief to the villagers.
