Manali: A Singapore tourist has been arrested and sent to five-day police custody on Monday for allegedly raping a foreign national in Manali.
In her complaint to police on Sunday, the woman alleged that a tourist from Singapore called her to come to his hotel room and raped her of Friday.
Manali deputy superintendent of police Hem Raj Verma said, “We have registered a rape case and arrested the accused. A medical examination of the woman has also been done.” The accused, identified as Alexander Lee Jia Jun, was produced before a Kullu court which remanded him to police custody for five days. The accused has been staying in Manali for the last two months on a tourist visa, said officials. Sources said the complainant is married to an Indian, but not from Himachal Pradesh, who works abroad and had been staying in a rented accomodation for the past few months.
